Loss And Gain

When I compare
What I have lost with what I have gained,
What I have missed with what attained,
Little room do I find for pride.

I am aware
How many days have been idly spent;
How like an arrow the good intent
Has fallen short or been turned aside.

But who shall dare
To measure loss and gain in this wise?
Defeat may be victory in disguise;
The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of
attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important
than facts. It is more important than the past, the
education, the money, than circumstances, than
failure, than successes, than what other people
think or say or do. It is more important than
appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or
break a company... a

church... a home. The
remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday
regarding the attitude we will embrace for that
day. We cannot change our past... we cannot
change the fact that people will act in a certain
way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only
thing we can do is play on the one string we have,
and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is
10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react
to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of
our Attitudes.

Our actions throughout the day seek to imitate
nature by having a purpose. Kindness is like
the rising of the sun that sheds new light on
matters, and compassion is like the rain that
washes away the old and nurtures new life.

I love to read mysteries. Especially books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child:
Riptide, The Ice Limit, The Cabinet of Curiosities, Still Life with Crows, Brimstone, Book of the Dead, and Dance of Death.

I've often heard of books that you couldn't put down, but never really found one until I read The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. It takes place in the late 1800's and it is the story of Dr. H.H. Holmes, a serial killer in Chicago. While he was luring unsuspecting victims to their deaths, just a short distance away was the construction of the second World's Fair. As interesting as the story of this serial killer is, the story about the World's Fair (White City) was surprisingly captivating.

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield is a novel about an aging famous author
who's life is about to end. She has written twelve best sellers, all based on events
of her life. These stories were part truth and part fiction. But, now at the end of her
life, she wants to tell the thirteenth tale. Only this one will be the truth about her life.
A life books of fiction are made of, but a life she had to keep secret.

This was an excellent story. It held my interest and caused me to look forward to
picking this book up again and learning more about Vida's history. A life story so
hard to believe, and yet you know stories like this may have happened to many.
I would most certainly recommend it.

    Forgive me deare lady,
Why would you say that "You should not want what they have to give"... it occurs to me that the vampyre is a predator, a hunter and therefore takes what they wish rather than controlling what they take. The neede and desire to "hunt" is as natural an instinct as with any other creature I would have thought. The point being, whether the energy is good or bad when 'tis point to use by the carrier o' the energy, as it stands... in itself... the actual energy is neither good or bad. It is simply energy.

A case in point, I would think, is the body's Aura. Aura's range in colour depending upon the disposition of the person. They are not good or bad but simply reflect what is inside.

An energy vampyre, any vampyre, worth his/ her salt will be schooled in the art of drawing from the enrgy field without absorbing the "intent" behind the energy. 'Tis much the same as an elemental vampyre draws 'pon the natural environmental energies 'bout them.

There is, I submit, no "good" energy and no "bad" energy ~ there is simply energy.
    With compliments, as e'er,

This is where our opinions differ. I believe that there is good and bad energy.
